Dear donors, dear friends
My name is Emmanuel Valcin of the Congregation of the Little Brothers of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, assisted by Mr. Lirano Benjamin.
Today, I am not here to talk to you about a distant problem, but to present a challenge that concerns us all. A challenge unfolding in Haiti, a country that many of us hold dear to our hearts.
The situation is critical: a devastating famine and massive deforestation are destroying land and lives. But these are not two separate problems. They are two sides of the same crisis.
* Hunger is driving families to cut down trees to produce charcoal, their only source of energy and income.
* Deforestation is depleting the soil, making agriculture impossible and worsening famine. It's a vicious cycle that seems endless. But hope is not lost. We can, and we must, break this cycle. Your donations will not only provide emergency food. They will do much more. They will allow us to implement sustainable solutions for Haiti's future:
* Planting trees to restore and protect the soil.
* Providing seeds, processing mills, and tools to farmers so they can grow their own food. * Introducing energy alternatives so families no longer have to rely on charcoal. Together, we can transform this vicious cycle into a virtuous one. Your generosity is a seed that, once planted, will grow and feed entire families for generations to come. Every donation, large or small, has a huge impact. Together, we can give Haiti a future free from hunger and poverty. Thank you.and tools for farmers so they can grow their own food.
