Hello good people, I had an accident a few days ago. I am a taxi driver. I was driving a client to the airport when the accident occurred. It was around 2 am at night. I had just woken up at around 1 am and I had an appointment with the client to drive him to the airport. After waking up I drove immediately from my house to the client's home to pick him up, so I arrived well and safe at his home and I called him upon my arrival and his family started bringing him luggage and they all bid him farewell and safe journeys. We board the car and started our trip to the airport. It was darker than usual and it was raining heavily. I had to drive slower at 40 km per hour on way as we were driving suddenly a two stray cats were crossing the road chasing after each other I immediately pressed emergency brakes to avoid running over them and after released my brakes the car hit a pothole and suddenly lost control because the car skid over turning in the direction of a drainage pavement, the car due to its light weight turned and fell down on the passenger side and skid away like a 40 metres distance away from when it fell.
By the grace and mercy of God we only had minor injuries. The accident scene was a very dangerous zone with the crime activities around the area and immediately out of nowhere a crowd of 8 men and young youth showed up.
They helped us get out of the car and they robbed us. They took our phones and both our wallets. The client due to the panic climbed up the highway above us since were fell on the service lane and fortunately for him he got an immediate ride with a motorcycle ride and he took off leaving there. As the goons were trying scout for any other items of value around the car. A traffic police passing by and he immediately came to the scene and some of the goons like 6 of them took off into the dark zone. The traffic police checked my status and he was good he said sorry for the tragedy and he called tow truck to help.
The car was towed to the nearby traffic police station and he asked me to go find $ 300 for the tow truck and some for him so he can write-up an abstract form and speed the release of the car from the station. I asked him I cannot afford such an amount hence I had no money and also not even a phone to even call for help and it was also very late. He said it is the only way he can help with no money no phone I had to walk around 13 kilometres to the stage where we always park and wait for client's. I walked for about 1 hour 30 minutes. When I arrived most of the driver had gone home I found two drivers and explained what happened, they felt sorry, but they also had no money to help out.
One of the drivers volunteered to take me home. I woke the next morning and headed straight to car owner and told him what happened, he was sick and on bed rest and unfortunately his illness demanded alot of attention and his hospital bill was also so high that he was also getting help and a fundraising project was in to try and help him out.
My family also is a hand to mouth kind.
I am in a dilemma and in need of everyone's help and support. I sincerely need all the help I can get. The car is a third party insurance which in Kenya they can cover self involved accidents.
When the car fell on side the engine shut down and the radiator was hit also hence causing the oil and water to mix plus the battery also burst open and the battery water flowed inside the the critical parts of engine.
The car is still at the station and a mechanic came and they gave a total quotation of $2120 for whole car repair.
I need a total of $2420 to be able to repair the car and go back to working again, also the car owner and his whole family are dependent of this car its was the only source of income for them together with me and my family.
Please do help where you can.
My mom always says whenever one does good it always come back in so many forms and ways that follows up to even family and community and spread all over.
