Visi Maha Karya Foundation – Helping Legless Kids and Teens Across the Globe Become Whole
A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal– Steve Maraboli
Disability is a difficult situation for any one individual to go through. In this tough journey we call life, we still have individuals who go through 10x more pain than normal for a condition they didn’t sign up for themselves. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), disabled children are more likely to face greater forms of stigmatization and discrimination than the average disabled person. This statistic goes to show why an organization to relieve these disabled children from their dilemma is needed, and why a foundation like Visi Maha Karya is significant to the world.
Who We Are and What We Do
Visi Maha Karya Foundation is a nonprofit organization which serves as a link between the disabled population and well off people who could lend a helping hand. Recognizing social tensions in society, we’ve undertaken a number of tangible projects to achieve social balance, including those in the fields of education, health, the environment, and the economy. Basically, we help disabled people come into spotlight to make them come out their dark clouds and realize a whole new world of kindhearted folks who are willing to help them conquer their lifetime struggles.
Story of Our Latest Beneficiary– Getting Prosthetics for Dino
"I feel like there’s no room in this world for a one legged oddity like me. I really hope to walk on both legs like a normal kid, but who would want help an unfortunate being?," said Dino (Translated to Native English) Dino is a 14 yrs old middle schooler who has lived his whole life with one leg. He was born as a uniped from birth, which means he has never experienced what it feels like to walk on both legs. Dino’s condition often made him shy away from partaking in activities his peers usually engage in and worse, he is often stigmatized by his peers due to his predicament. Even though Dino is a smart kid academically, he finds it hard to maintain a straight face and team up with other kids during school projects, maybe because his condition made him introverted, but certainly because he has never been picked by his peers. Dino is also good at playing music and aspires to become an artist some day. Although, he fears that he may never achieve his dream due to his condition. Dino's parents work as second-hand goods collectors and they barely make above the minimum wage monthly, which means they can’t afford to get prosthetics for their son– Dino Together, we can give Dino the leg he never had via prosthetics, and positively impact his life for the better.
Funding Goal and Allocation(s)
We seek to raise 5,000 USD to get Dino a new prosthetic leg to see him stand upright and walk for the first time in his life. Every dollar raised would go through the following processes;
