Saving The Young From Dying at Sea

Every year, thousands of young Gambians embark on the deadly journey to Europe. As a result, some of them end up in the nets of human traffickers, others finally reach their dreamed land (Europe) only to realise that the pasture isn't that green and some unfortunately die at sea. The most heartbreaking part is that some of the people who embark on this journey are actually very bright youths academically, yes they have emerged top students from their high schools but their families are so poor that they can't afford the cost of tertiary education or start a business of their own. Hence, they see the illegal migration to Europe as the only alternative.
Base on this reality on the ground, we have created a nonprofit Foundation with the objective of supporting 12 students annually to complete a degree program at the University of the Gambia. This would help make our grantees resourceful individuals in our society and help reduce the number of people dying at sea annually.
An annual tuition fee for a degree at the University of the Gambia cost D40,000 (or $800). Therefore a 4 year full program would cost D160,000 (or $3,200). Hence, with $40,000, we can support the full time degree programs of 12 students. That means we have impacted 12 households and the positive impact is beyond what we can measure. Be a part of this and help in the changing and saving of lives.
Thank you!
