Trying to pay off debt in total $30,000 so I can pay everything off and we can keep up with rent. I got into a car accident April of 2021, and to my knowledge my auto insurance was still active for the month. Never got ticketed on the site of the crash, just totaled my car and had to pay to sign it over to a junkyard. Because someone cut off the person infront of me while we were going 50 mph, the person infront of me slammed on their brakes and was able to stop okay, I ended up ramming into them because my brakes weren't as good. So we gave each other our insurances, and cops arrived the whole 9 yards. A few weeks after, the cops who were there knocked on my door, and told me my insurance wasn't valid the time of the incident, ticket me and I get letters from USAA saying I'll be paying out of pocket. I hit a Toyota Tacoma, but the damage reports I got says I hit a Silverado. I called the other drivers insurance and they said there's no proof of what I'm saying and I'm liable because I hit the back end of them. I call my insurance and they say my insurance lapsed a week before but I never got a notification about it and I set up a payment plan with their attorney to pay what was originally $10,000 total but $300 monthly. Everytime I paid $300 monthly, the $10,000 went to $15,000, then $20,000, and up to $30,000. I call the attorney and ask why this is happening, and they say the estimates changed and the total was raised after the other drivers repairs. I called a lawyer, and they said I'm being scammed, that it shouldn't be like that I should've been ticketed on site and the amount of money owed can't change once the deal is settled and I was being harassed over phone about my license being suspended, the attorney of an insurance company can't do that but up to date my license is being suspended July 25th for this accident. I don't have enough money to figure this out without bankruptcy and we need to move before our landlord kicks us out November. Besides bills I haven't found a way to afford this, I'm asking for help before having to file bankruptcy. Anything helps please and Thankyou.
