Last week, at Raptor Domain, we had to evacuate all the animals twice because of the extreme fire risk. We are fortunate that the property has been spared this time but is still at the recommended level. Clearly we need to build portable enclosures for our birds of prey to provide food and temporary shelter for the animals as ideally we need to keep our animals in one of the "safer places" on Kangaroo Island until the fire threat is gone. This will greatly reduce the stress of moving our animals and keeping them in pet bags for long periods of time. Hope to get your support. The Kangaroo Island fire has been absolutely devastating to our local people, wildlife and environment. It has also greatly affected the tourism industry on which we continue to rely for environmental education. We now ask for your help to ensure that our birds remain safe and happy when they need to be evacuated again for an extended period of time. They will also provide additional space for short-term rescue of raptors in our care.
