My dad was diagnosed late last year, December 2020 and the result showed that he has Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) also called prostate gland enlargement which is a common condition as men get older. An enlarged prostate gland can cause uncomfortable urinary symptoms, such as blocking the flow of urine out of the bladder. It can also cause bladder, urinary tract, or kidney problems, his condition has gotten worse causing his kidneys not to work well enough, and his treatment options are limited to dialysis treatments, a kidney transplant, or removal of the prostate.
Getting regular dialysis treatments, usually three times a month for four hours at a time, will help his kidneys do their job and keep him alive, but an operation to remove the enlarged prostate would offer him more freedom and the ability to live a longer, healthier, more normal life like he used to. Due to financial constraints, we haven't been able to get him the needed funds to undergo the needed operation, and have been barely able to keep up with the treatment for his dialysis sessions.
