Due to a pandemic that has been going on for years, many have lost their jobs. As it affected the young, it also affected the elderly residents of many villages in Eastern Europe. Many no longer have the means to procure firewood over the winter because the young have helped the elderly, but since they lost their jobs they can no longer provide the necessary funds.
