Dear all, I am Subham from Mauritius, hereby wanted to share my dream project with you all. It is estimated that in Mauritius there are c.350,000 dogs and among them c.80,000 are stray. Nevertheless, a sensitisation campaign began in Mauritius since 2016 and the number of stray dogs decreased significantly. Despite the rate of adoption increase, we can still see stray dogs roaming around the island. Any person who visits Mauritius island on each coast, poor dogs are still visible and do not have a proper shelter to live in. Sometimes, its hard for them to find food and they are sometimes as well ill treated. So, its very difficult to take care and spot all dogs in the island and it will cost a huge amount of money to help every stray dogs. Nevertheless, something shall start somewhere to help those dogs in difficult times. My project is as follows. A limited boundary at the coast of the island i.e a limited area at a specific beach in Mauritius shall be selected to start the project. We will identify and ask for permission with local authorities to grant us a small plot of land on that selected area to build a shelter 9instead of building a kiosk for people to enjoy) whereby those stray dogs can be in and have a proper food for them to eat twice on a daily basis. The same project will therefore carry on around the island with the help of everyone. The granted shelter shall accomodate 50-75 dogs per selected area. Those dogs will be fed and take care of, and every month they will beneficiate the visit of a vet to make sure that they are in good health. We will have the help of professional dog trainers as well in order to manage the dogs in the shelter and note that they will not be captured, they will have a free life but they will be guaranteed to have a proper shelter and food on a daily basis. The shelter shall have a security such as cctv camera. The project will start on a specific point hence successful for one month other shelters on another specific point shall be constructed. Hence to make all this go on a smooth and legit running, an association shall be created for me and my team to move forward with the project all around the island. Hence a massive sensitisation campaign will be done to allow people to help in terms of donation for maintaining the shelters and be able to purchase all food for those dogs. Note that we are not capturing those dogs, we are making sure if they are well treated and be safe in the island. People will be allowed as well to adopt them, we will also sensitise them about it. We need a collaborative support of everyone to be able to help for the project. Myself I take the initiative here to donate 1dollar per day so as to be able to raise the fund for the poor dogs. We will post proof of PayPal transfer receipts on my social media so you can see exactly where your donation has gone. And the project with everyone help and god grace will be boosted around the island, not specifically in a region but all around the island. We want to give all of these rescues the best chance possible of saving as many dogs as they can right before Christmas.
