This micro project is constructing a home that will house 153 orphaned children in kidodo kasese-uganda and 4 care takers. The home includes sleeping rooms, a kitchen, a clean water source and a small farm and vegetable patch. The water source we are building will also benefit the surrounding community which consists of 1000 people. We are employing local people in the community to assist in building, as well as vulunteer assistance. the SOC also supports children through formal education.
As the Challenge
In Uganda, there are an estimated 10,000 children who do not have a home, and known as skreet kids. There are thousands more that have homes but do not attend school due to neglect or abuse. SOC previously owned a home for 53 orphans, but the government forced the children to move out without offering compensation. as an organization we were forced to rent more rooms to accomodate them. therefore help us to get our own house to host these children of God.
