My NGO aims to raise its goal US$ 12,000 to assist families in precariou situation at Beoung Tompun community at Phnom Penh's outskirts. These familes are being forced to move out from their places due to company development.
Because of the economic downturn accompanying with the pandemic, most are no longer able to put food on the table and lose their productivity due to their living places are being filled with sand by powerful company since most of the engaged with low-paid job. These families livng in informal settlement, regarded as illegal settlers unrecognised by local authorities and vulnerable to eviction. Most live amid hopelessness and depression.
Our NGO named Disadvantaged Cambodians Organisation has been active on the ground in delivering foods, medicines and basic supplies to support those at-risk people.
The fund raise will go directly to pay their land rental fees. We have surveyed suitable land that available for them. The project will train these families as vegetable growers, provide them with seeds and horticultural tools, find suitable land for them to relocate to, and link them to market their produces. The fund will go to pay one year's rent on their land; whilst they get on their feet (after which they should be able to pay ot themselves).
We belive this a lasting solution to dilemma of these extreme dwellers. This project is measurable and sustainable. They should continue with production, maintain an income and be able to pay their land rental. Many are likely to save money to purchase their own piee of horticulture land somewhere and should be skilled enough to continue markeing their produce without further help from donor support.
