Hi,

My name is Yusuf Lunat and I am from Lusaka Zambia.

I have started a very small meat processing company in the capital city of Zambia. Its a small one-room building I have built over the last year and it has finally started operating. I have built the whole structure and bought a handful number of machines using borrowed money from friends. Currently, I am completely in debt and there is none of my personal money in this business.

This is due to the fact that I have no other source of income apart from my salary. My salary is enough to feed my family or four and by the end of the month, i am back to zero.

The meat processing company is very critical for my success and for me to pay back my debt. I own a sausage filler, a small vacuum packer, a cooker, a meat cutting machine and a mincer. I have 3 deep freezers and a few tables. The total cost so far has been around $50,000. I have a very small amount of working capital, enough to buy 2 days worth of raw meat at a time. I also can not take advantage of economies of scale because I do not have a coldroom to store the meat and also have to cash to buy more meat.

So far with the few products I make, the market response is really really good. I supply my products to a small number of supermarkets around my area. I have to give some customers on credit, which affects my little cash flow. This causes me to run out of cash some days and I can't buy meat for production, causing me to lose sales.

I have started this business with alit of courage, and by borrowing alot of money. I pray to God every now and then for the success of this business and I am grateful that the market response is good. However, I require additional funds so that I can firstly pay off my debt, buy a coldroom, have enough working capital and hopefully expand my machinery.

I will appreciate every cent donated.
