My name is Chido Lomiah Zindove.I am 18 years old.I am a Zimbabwean currently residing in South Africa and I aspire to become a chemical engineer.
I completed my National Senior Certificate in 2020 at Meridian College Phalaborwa with a bachelor pass. I got admitted to the University of Johannesburg to study engineering for the 2021 academic year but I was not able to pursue that path because of funds.
During early March 2020 my mother, Prisca Zindove was diagnosed with Cervical cancer. As a result the money that had been saved for my university fees had to be used towards her treatment.
We had only managed to save for the first year’s tuition therefore the money saved wasn’t enough to cover the total treatment cost so we had to go into debt.
This resulted in me having to take a gap year because there was no way my dad (the sole breadwinner) would have been able to cover the debt and my tuition fees at the same time.
I have reapplied at The University of Johannesburg to study Chemical Engineering for the 2022 academic year and fortunately I have been admitted and I am worried that we might not be able to finish off the debt and save enough money for my tuition for the next year, which might mean that I won’t be able to go to University for yet another year. It is for this reason that I am requesting help with my tuition fee.I am more than willing to answer any questions that you might have
