Mwana Aphunzire Funding Proposal Click on the link to find us about Us
MWANA APHUNZIRE through its Communities (ACT) division, is seeking funding to provide education through the construction of a community school (3 classrooms block, one Office/store, four Toilets block and three teachers houses) for Lavu, Kaluba and Misholo Villages. This school will be based in a rural area on the outskirts of Chipata, in Zambia. This Community School will be the only school serving this community, with around 370 pupils. These pupils they travel a minimum of 15km to the nearest available school. As a result many just stay at home or often engage in illegal activities such as early marriages, drug abuse, charcoal burning and other bad vices.
Background
Information The community comprises of three villages and has a population of nearly 3,000 inhabitants. Family incomes in this area are low and many children are growing up in extreme poverty. Numerous children in developing countries fail to reach their potential, leading to higher rates of criminality, increased reliance on the health care system and lower future earnings and income potential. Data from many developing countries has shown that women with at least a certain level of education eventually give birth to one-third to one-half the number of children as women with no formal education. Better-educated women are able to delay marriage and exercise more control over their reproductive lives, making informed decisions regarding childbearing. The trend for early births is seen prolifically in Lavu, Kaluba and Misholo villages, with many women as young as 14 bearing children with little or no income or support. Once this school is built, it will be able to gain funding from the Government to hire the teachers to undertake these classes. Project Aims Mwana aphunzire aims to: a) Construct a community school that will offer lessons from grades 1 to 5, and; b) Provide learning materials, and teaching resources to minimise levels of illiteracy and poverty in the community. The school will be built in cooperation with the villages’ local government, chiefs, and the villages’ Traditional Authorities. It will provide a much needed opportunity for the pupils from the local villages and the building project will start as soon as soon we get the funding. We really have a committed team of local qualified builders who are motivated.
Thank you and always yours faithfully
