Batwa Empowerment Village (BEV) Is a Non-profit Community Based Organization established on cultural Foundation for the rights of the Indigenous Batwa in South-Western Uganda and addresses gross abuses and marginalisation of Batwa as known as the initial custodians of the Bwindi Rainforest. The major aim of the org is to give hope to the needy and disadvantaged Batwa in terms of social welfare, cultural preservation and economic, educational empowerment. Above all preserve Batman's unique culture. Batwa were evicted from the forest in 1991 when the Bwindi rainforest was gazetted as a national park purposely for the conservation of Mountain gorillas, without compensation of any kind, Batwa were left homeless and till date, had it not been the will of non-profits to intervene and help these people, I don't know whether they would still exist. Like any other people, Batwa deserve our help more than ever and so as we approach the festive season, a dollar or two would help raise a meal for the Batwa on such a distinguished day. Every single dollar goes to the front lines of the fight against hunger crisis during Christmas, not overhead or organizational expenses.
