If you have ever been oppressed, tortured, brutalized and abused then you have an idea what the average Nigerian youth is going through. Police brutality is happening all over the world, and in Nigeria youths have taken out to the streets to stage a peaceful protest, to alley our concern to the government and the relevant authorities but the police on the other hand are fighting this peaceful protest with armed weapons! Over ten protesters have lost their lives and dozens more have been hospitalized from bullet wounds and other injuries. Despite these oppression and inhuman treatments we have decided not to back down, our voices must be heard, police brutality must end. Every life matter! We are calling on people all over the world Fathers, Mothers, Brothers, sisters, everyone who has experienced police brutality or has seen first hand what this can cause join forces and lend a voice to help save the injured and also assist the families of the fallen! Together our voices can be heard! Our little contributions can make the loudest noise. The sacrifices of the fallen heroes will never be in vain! For Jimoh Isiaq to the innocent mechanic and the students including the 10 year old girl killed in the peaceful protest.. this fight is for you!!
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN NIGERIA?
The Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) is a unit of the police created to combat violent crimes like Armed robbery and kidnapping, yet they are accountable for countless and widespread
unlawful torture, extortion and death of citizens they are meant to protect. Several attempts through signed petitions, social media, interviews by youths of Nigeria to call the Government
attention to the activities of SARS has fallen on deaf ears.
The #ENDSARS campaign focuses on the brutality of the Nigerian police force and it gives a broader picture of the flaws in the Nigerian criminal justice and policing system. Many Nigerians
do not feel safe with the police. driving a fancy car or owning an Iphone in Nigeria can get you killed. The Nigerian youths have faced some of the harshest situation from Government and
leadership in recent time and the recent campaign and protest was sparked up by the recent killing of young man in Ughelli, Delta state.
Below are few of the recent victims of police brutality and SARS extrajudicial killings.
1. Kazeem Tiamiyu- He was the assistant captain of Remo stars football club in Sagamu ogun state 22 February 2020
2. Tina Ezekwe- she was shot by a drunk police in lagos on 28 may, 2020
3. Chibuike Daniel- mususician and student, shot by the police on 19, September 2020
4. Kolade johnson- killed by police while watching a liverpool football match on march 31 2019
5. mus'ab sammani- Graduate of computer science shot by drunk policeman on 4 December 2019
