I am a normal girl from Poland. I am 32 years old, I am a doctoral student, I want to open a notary office in the future. Together with my parents and younger sister, we run a small pizzeria. Our ordinary and happy world turned over on its head when my mother heard a diagnosis a few years ago - breast cancer. At first everything was fine. She underwent breast amputation, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. She felt great. Two years later, another bad news came - bone metastases. Even so, we did not give up. Another treatment. Fortunately, all the time my mother felt well, functioned normally, worked (she is a history teacher). Unfortunately, our peace did not last long. It turned out that the cancer had spread to the liver and lungs. Mom's body is exhausted after long treatment, and the biggest problem is bumps in the bones. Mainly because of this she is unable to enjoy her life. Due to the enormous, inhuman pain, she hardly sleeps. Despite the fact that my mother is always a smiling optimist, I noticed that she is slowly giving up. This is the worst. She needs some hope and pain relief (because painkillers aren't helping enough and putting a strain on her heart). Polish medicine in the treatment of cancer is several years behind in relation to Western countries. Doctors treat blindly. There is no comprehensive treatment. Mom goes from doctor to doctor, and slowly she lacks the strength to do so. There is a big chance for concrete help in Germany. This applies mainly to proton treatment. Mom is eligible for this treatment. Unfortunately, the costs exceed our capabilities. The entire treatment can be up to 100,000.00 Euro. There is no chance of a refund from the Polish health insurance. We work all our lives, live on a normal level. However, my mother's illness has already consumed all our savings. In addition, we already have mortgage (taken for the development of the company, building a house), so we cannot get into debt more. Selling the house is also not an option, mostly because of mortgage. We would all have to work very intensively for many years for such money. And there is no time. That is why I am asking for any help, because I do not see any other solutions. I feel tired. I wish I can focus on a normal life and professional career, but at the moment my life has stopped. I am focusing on work to help my parents. I also try to spend as much time as possible with my mother, because I don't know how much time we have left.
