A FEW WORDS ABOUT MYSELF. My name is Szymon Skowronski. I am a free soul, nature lover and mountain addict. I was born in Poland but I have spent the most of my adult life in South America, charmed by the Andes Mountains. I live in Cordillera Blanca in Peru but I will tell more about the place later on. For now, I want to say that this incredibly beautiful place's ecosystem is deteriorating very fast and I really want to help the situation. I believe that we can slow down and maybe even reverse this process, helping the local people to live a more wealthy and healthy life at the same time. A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE PLACE. Cordillera Blanca is the world highest tropical mountain range. It offers any kind of extreme sports and outdoor activities, bringing a lot of tourists every year (until the pandemic). It has a massive glacier coverage that is disappearing at an alarming rate. The local communities live mostly from agriculture and tourism, however, many live in poverty. Using pesticides and similar products typical to modern agriculture with very basic tools and primitive techniques is very deficient, creates a lot of pollution and soil deterioration. The vast majority of local communities doesn't have access to any sanitary service or knowledge how to manage it themselves. In result the garbage is burned in the backyard or thrown into the river together with excrements and dump. Exhausted soil burns in the sun exposed to erosion. Local temperatures elevates much faster than elsewhere, glaciers melts down and drought tends to happen more and more often. A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE MISSION. I believe that applying permaculture principles would help the locals to live more wealthy and healthy lives while simultaneously helping the planet. For that, we will have to prove that it works. For that purpose I bought a 2940 m² lot in Uquia village, close to Huaraz city. I am $13 000 away from paying this lot and I know that with your help I can do it. I set my goal to $15 000 to be able to buy some basic tools, build a tiny house and work the ground, keeping it all simple and affordable, accordingly to the main idea. Our world needs to produce food in more sustainable way and I want to prove that you can do it without a lot of money. I am sure that with your help I will be able not only to fulfill my dream of living a sustainable life, but also help to preserve one of the most amazing ecosystems I have ever seen and improve the local communities life standard.
