My Names are Anugbogi Zayyad Mohammed (Zayyad being my first name). I'm a graduate of Building Technology from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi and I'm also an Ex-corper who just finished my national service this Year. I am the first born of two children from a nuclear family. I am currently still in bauchi as I want to start my masters and I also have a better chance at a small job for survival here but my Mum lives in Abuja. I am always shuttling between the two two cities, now and then. 2018, when I was in my 400lvl, I received a call from my mum at about 11pm; "He's Gone". My dad had just up and left, no excuses, no squabbles, nothing, just another man abandoning his family for no explainable reason and that's when we actually started going through hell, Pun intended. We got thrown out of our house and had to rent a single room apartment (Myself, my Mum and my younger brother). It didn't derail us, not in the slightest bit. My mum started selling Locally made sweetened Sorghum Juice(Kunu) and Hibiscus Juice (Zobo). I was offering home lessons for secondary school students after school hours for some pay and we were surviving all good and fine. We even skitted the pandemic as a happy little family. On the 8th of March, 2020, $480 (NGN 200,000) was stolen from my savings account by fraudsters. The sum was made of a combined savings of myself and my mum as she kept her savings in my account. Since then, we have just been living our lives day to day, just trying to make it through each day and combining that with the occasional expense of my mum going to see a rheumatologist, due to her arthritis, things have been really bad, like really, really bad. My attempts at even securing a job or learning an online skill(I am tech savvy) have proved futile. I have been offered a life line from my Almamater (ATBU), my H.O.D. advices me to apply for the master degree program so that I'll be eligible for an Adhoc Lecturer position which can possibly become a permanent position once I am able to complete my masters degree. The total cost of the program is about $587 = NGN228,000 ($309 for course work and $278 for every subsequent Thesis year). But right now all I need is $640 ( $309 for course work and $331 to buy a laptop and pay my house rent which is due for 4/12/2021). All subsequent payments I'm very sure I can cover when I get this job, so all I am pleading for right now is $640 to not just possibly pave way to the safety of employment for me but to also give my mum the rest she deserves (she's a workaholic). I do hope this works because if it doesn't, I don't really know what else to do. Thank you.
