Child abuse is unfortunately a common occurrence in Pakistan which tries to cover itself under the guise of religion but it is shocking to see that paedophilia is rampant in Pakistani society. The infamous case of Zainab in Kasur and the Kasur child abuse scandal are just two infamous incidents which shows a very crucial picture of the disease that is plaguing our society. The government officials are unable to control it or even if they do it its too late and that cycle goes on. The number of child abuse cases reported is too low as compared to the actual number of incidents taking place. In 2017, about 3445 cases were reported but there is an alarming increase in the recent years and the cases goes from 9 per day to 12 per day. In some cities there are gangs involved in child abuses. In some cases family members are involved and due to communication gap between the child and parents it silently continues. The irony is that children are sexually tortured to death and there is no one to stop it. it could not be curtailed despite measures taken by the government and announcement of death penalty for the abusers. In my opinion the only solution to eradicate this from the roots society is to create awareness in the society through door to door contact, seminars arrangements in schools and teaching protective measures to the parents. Victims lead a difficult life as they have to deal with this trauma for the rest of their lives. So some of my friends and I decided to launch a fundraiser to help us create awareness and help the victims and rescue those who are silently abused because of fear or any other obstacle in reporting abuse.
